Last Saturday, we made a quick trek (about an hour’s drive) down south to the city of Speyer. Our primary goal was to encourage Nathan’s love for underwater creatures by providing him with the opportunity to view some up close at the Speyer Aquarium. We accomplished that and were able to view the beautiful Speyer Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The aquarium was all that we expected it to be. Various people warned us that it was on the small side and a bit overpriced. Fortunately, we were able to get discounted tickets online and Nathan got in for free since he is under 3 years of age. That brought the cost down significantly. As far as the size of the aquarium, it was perfect for our needs. Nathan was captivated by a few of the exhibits, but it didn’t take long for him to lose interest.
