On Wednesday, we took our Chocolate Lab, Brandon, in for his annual check-up. It is hard to believe our sweet Choco Bear turned fifteen just last month. He’s hanging in there though. Aside from the normal signs of aging (hearing loss, macular degeneration, stiff joints, and some difficulty getting up) he is still moving around and in great health, considering his age. I think it is pretty impressive that he has lived beyond the life expectancy for his breed by several years and did it without any medications. Must be his good genes–his parents were Avalanche Rescue Dogs from Washington State.

Nathan loves having a dog, even if Brandon is slow moving and sleeps A LOT. Nathan also enjoys having some responsibility in caring for Brandon. It is Nathan’s job to feed Bran in the evening and he helps to direct Bran outside when the need arises. The biggest responsibility is taking Brandon to the doctor’s office. Nathan is adamant about holding the leash and being by Brandon’s side. He even gave him sympathy pats on the head while Bran was being examined–too cute. Here are some pictures from that visit…
