Last weekend, Brad travelled to France to participate in a three day bike ride through Normandy. This wasn’t just any bike ride though. It was the Liberty Ride–400 cyclists from surrounding European countries riding to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and centered around the date June 6 known as “D-Day”.
Each day comprised of approximately 70 kilometers of riding through the French countryside. Brad, and a friend, completed two days of cycling and opted for self-guided sightseeing on the third day. Although disappointed that Nate and I could not accompany him, he had a great time. He was also humbled by the cheering crowds that lined the narrow streets, the ways in which the French displayed their love and support of America, the veterans that participated from around the world and by the sheer magnitude of what took place there just seventy years ago.
