Off and Running…

With April 21 fast approaching, I have been inspired to make a year-long commitment. For those of us that live here in the Boston area, it is a day that is much anticipated. It is a day recognized by athletes all over the world. Yes, I speak of the Boston Marathon. It is loved and feared by many. I definitely feel the fear part. I have been dabbling in the running scene on and off for a few years. I have also completed a sprint triathlon and several cycling races with Brad. I love the feeling of participating in an organized event. It is such a good feeling when you are out with other people that share the same common goal. Plus you meet many new people that are supporters of the sport, you get to eat tasty treats along the way, and you get the sound of the crowds cheering you on. Doesn’t that sound great? Now that spring is upon us, I feel a sense of renewal and I feel I am ready to accomplish my next feat-running 26.2 miles. My hope is to write about my journey on the website. The first marathon is not until October. Why October and not next April? Those who dare to attempt the Boston Marathon have to actually qualify for it. What a killer, huh? Maybe some of you would also like to run one. You can search for and register for marathons all over the U.S. at http://www.active.com/ . Free training schedules are available at http://www.runnersworld.com

You can check back to see how I am “holding up”. If you sign up for a race, drop me an e-mail (access through the site)-I would love to hear from you! Happy running…
