Run Deanna…Run!

Today, Deanna entered a 5K running race.  She registered a couple months ago to put in on her list of goals . . . today was the day.

It was a pretty typical race day.  We woke up and got ready to go.  First typical race event – she left her good running shoes at school so had to "make do" with the back-up pair we had here.  Of course the pink shoes would just not work with her red running clothes so she had to change clothes too.

So, we eventually made it out the door and started down the road.  That is where we realized that we forgot her ID – just incase they needed to see it.  So we head back and finally gathered all we needed to really leave for the race.

The race was through lower Lincoln Park.  The key word there is through.  We showed up there to see two cars in the parking lot.  Luckily there was a nice person to direct us to upper Lincoln where the real starting line was.

We arrived just in the nick of time.  Deanna jogged to the registration (we called that a warm-up) then ran to the start line (second warm-up).

Once the race started she found a good surprise.  The "flat" course did have one nice hill on it that she was fortunate enough to run up twice.  Overall, it was a beautiful day and she really had a good run.  Finally, she can add a 5K to her list of "official" runs.  We won't count the other 5K she did as part of a triathlon.

Next on the list – a 10K!  Coming soon!  See you on the trail.
