Pretty good weekend

This was a pretty good weekend.  Nothing exciting happened, but we had a good time.

Friday night we went for a drive up Mt. Lemmon with the dogs.  We checked out the sunset and the lights for a little bit and returned home to watch a couple movies.

Saturday morning I woke up at 4:30 and met with Tom and Wes to do the shootout.

We left the house at 5 AM and rode to Broadway and Old Spanish Trail.  There we met a couple other guys and rode down to the U of A.  As usual the group was large and blasted off at Valencia.  I did not last long at all.  I guess I need to ride on a regular basis.  I met up with Tom at the bridge and noticed Wes was just behind me.  I didn’t know he was back there until I reached the bridge.  Wes had some bad luck – his rear wheel fell of right around Valencia – the start of the fast part of the ride.

We rode to Helmet Peak Rd, stopped at Old Nogales Highway to refill and then again at the RoadRunner market.  At this point we “caught” the main group – they were stopped for refills and snacks.  Of course they had already gone through Green Valley too! We turned North when we reached Houghton and started heading home.  Wes decided to check out a pot-hole and blew his front tire. He was not having a good day with his bike. Luckily Tom and I are mtn bikers so the flat repair went smoothly.  Acually Wes did it all by himslef.  All-in-all we went 72 Miles – I was glad we made it home.

Deanna did some running with dogs and was hanging out with a book in the Arizona room when we arrived.

Sunday I rode the stationary recument bike while finishing off the first book of the Left Behind series.  We went to church and then hiked a little bit of the Butterfly trail on Mt. Lemmon.  Bailey and Brandon had a good time, but we ran across a couple dogs that were not too friendly.  Bailey received a bite on the butt and Brandon was snapped at too.  The trail is narrow and a few of the dogs didn’t like other dogs all that much.  It didn’t make it any better with the owners letting the dogs run free.  When we made it home we grilled all sorts of goodies on the BBQ and had a great dinner.

So overall we had a pretty good weekend.

By the way – Deanna is giving me a foot massage while I type this . . . I don’t know why she has the nail polish sitting next to her.  I hope the oil from the massage does not hamper my ability to run when she tries to paint my toe nails!
