Today I met with Matt and we rode the “famous” shootout. The group was well over 50 riders and when we met with them we blended right in. The group starts at a relaxing pace and breaks into smaller groups from the few stop lights we encountered. Once they reach Valencia all that changes. That is where the “gun” goes off and people just take off. I hung on for several minutes and Matt made it a bit longer. He waited a couple minutes for me at the bridge and we turned back around. The total ride time for us was 2 hours. I hope to do this more often and hang on a little longer each time. The day I can stay with the lead group fo the entire ride I will have “made it.” Who knows if that will ever happen. . . .
