Snake Dance – Whew! That was close

Today, I decided to ride the mountain bike into work. I took the normal trail along the fence line at Fantasy Island. Since it has been warming up, the snakes must be waking up from the long winters nap. Wouldn't you know, there was a three and a half foot rattler soaking up some rays right on the path. I decided not to run this one over so I jammed on the brakes. Maybe just a little too much front brake here . . .

I flew over the handle bars and landed flat on my stomach one and one half feet from the beast. Luckily he was still waking up and didn't really seem to care I was there. I had time to spring to my feet and save my self. Actually, I had all the time in the world because he never moved or even started to rattle for that matter. I gently rolled a rock up next to him to convince him to leave the trail. That didn't bother him either. I decided to walk around him and just let him wake up from the nap. Pretty much just like Deanna when she gets up in the morning. . . I don't like to be bitten
